Starting this year I was planning on participating in a few online projects regarding blog posting and photography. I was hoping to try and force some normalcy into my life via these projects, basically pursue some hobbies. As you may have noticed that hasn’t happened as of yet. I still want to post more blogs and take more photos. But recovering mentally from having a single mindset for almost a full year has been harder than I expected.
Work:
YouSendIt (my employer) has officially released the updated version of our site. I will say that it is quite an improvement over our past site and will offer so much to our business. This is the project that consumed most of my life for most of a year. All I can say is we got a foosball table out of it so I am happy. Next release I want an air hockey table
I am also Lead of Infrastructure now, daunting task but I think it will be fun.
Personal:
We have a puppy
. Her name is Miriam and she is a Scottish Terrier. She loves to chew on leather sandals, my fingers and Kongo wubba toys. She is also a fan of urinating on the edge of her puppy pads so that the pee gets under it and penetrates the floor boards. Outside of those vices she has been given a clean bill of health and is allowed to go outside now. Every day I come home she wags her tail so hard that her whole body glides on the hardwood floor with it, its pretty funny/cute. Expected to see many photos of her playing in the grass and chasing leaves.
Weight:
I am a chubby man. No not just chubby straight up obese, tubby and every word under the sun to describe fatness. My struggle/laziness with this has existed my whole life and I started to overcome it but “life” got in the way and I lost track, gained it all back plus a few. Now my goal is to drop the weight before the wife and I start to have kids and that means I need to lose the weight soon (about a year I think). I am going to be getting up earlier in the morning, walking the dog every day and then hopefully heading to the gym for a 45 minute ride on the cycle. I would like to ride a real bike but I am heavy making it really uncomfortable. Maybe me writing about losing weight and all the ways I exercise will help me. It could also backfire as I haven’t posted because I haven’t had time to write or take pictures… We shall see.
Hiking:
Friend of mine and I are planning on going hiking sometime next year. Hiking as in a 50 mile hike trekking through the mountains. Obviously I am no shape to be doing this so there is another reason for me to lose some weight.
Photography
I am starting to get back into the swing of taking photos again. Last time I lost a bunch of weight, photo-hikes were integral to that change. I got a new lens,
Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM IF. It works pretty well for simple walking lens. My focus for photography has always been Nature and Landscape though I am starting to enjoy taking urban trips through busy cities.
Think that’s enough of an update, definitely more to come.

Aaron best of luck in all of these things. I know you can do it!
I’ll come do the 50 mile hike with you! Sounds like a blast!!
Yea! I can’t wait for our 50-miler! Super daunting, but should be crazy fun.. No (electronic) tech, just lots of fun in nature.. going to be a blast!
Brian, you serious about joining us?!
The only tech that I am bringing is my Camera. Non-negotiable
You can definitely do this, bro! And keep coming out with Eric and me to run/walk. That helps a ton man.
totally acceptable! I’ll be bringing my camera — that is, if i have one by then..
